Latest Update on the Breezeline Cable TV Saga! (updated 4/18/26)

🚀 Big News! We’re Streaming Into the Future at Century Village! 📺✨

Hello, wonderful neighbors! Guess who’s back in the loop? After a few months away, I finally hopped back into the UCO Broadband Cable Committee meeting this past Wednesday, and oh boy, do I have some sparkly news to share with you all! 🎈

💰 The Best Kind of Surprise: No Price Talk!

You know that feeling when you’re bracing for a “money talk” and it never comes? I kept waiting to hear the words “contract proposal” or “extra costs,” but guess what? Zero. Zilch. Nada! 🌈

It turns out BreezeLine has seen the light! They’ve realized that our current contract is a solid promise. They’ll be sticking to the original terms for the next few years, which means we get to move forward with the good stuff without any mid-contract hiccups. I was absolutely beaming when I heard the news!

✍️ Protecting Our Community: The Grand Agreement

Before we “pull the trigger” on these new boxes, there is one very important step: the formal agreement. I simply can’t imagine that we would proceed without a written agreement that explicitly protects our owners!

To make sure we are all on the same page, I believe our Association delegates (who also serve as UCO board members during the Delegates’ Assemblies) should review and approve the agreement between UCO and Breezeline before we give the final “okay” to proceed. This is the best way to ensure:

  • Zero Financial Surprises: We need to double-check that there are absolutely no additional costs to the owners.

  • All Bases Covered: We want to make sure every question has a clear answer.

  • Needs Fulfilled: We must be certain that the specific needs of our residents are fully met.

Once this agreement is reviewed and approved, we can move forward with total peace of mind! I’m thinking this will only take a month or two.

📦 The Rollout Plan: Smooth & Steady!

The “Great Streaming Upgrade” is officially in motion, and the committee is working hard to make it a breeze! Currently, the committee is developing recommendations for the BreezeLine team on how to best roll out the new boxes.

The goal is to maintain an orderly process and ensure every resident is provided with the right education and materials ahead of time. While we have some ideas—like starting with service calls for those with reception issues—there are actually four or five different rollout options on the table! The plan could change as we find the most efficient path forward, but don’t worry—I’ll keep you posted on that aspect of the project. 🚂💨

🎓 Getting Ready for the Big Swap

While the rollout strategy is being finalized, here is what’s happening behind the scenes:

  1. The “Coaching” Phase: BreezeLine is giving their techs and customer service folks some extra “coaching” (wink, wink!) to make sure they are total experts. 🎓

  2. Education Stations: Our committee is busy preparing emails and TV segments so everyone knows exactly how to proceed once those boxes arrive. 📖

⚠️ A Tiny “Heads Up” for my Fellow Binge-Watchers!

Before you get too carried away with excitement, I have one little tip: Watch those recordings! 🍿

When the tech swaps your old box for the new streaming one, those recorded shows will vanish. So, consider this your official permission to spend the next few weeks on the couch finishing every series on your DVR. It’s “strategic preparation,” right?

    At committee meeting any mention about Internet charges?
    Breezeline charges $56 mo. for Internet to many CV residents BUT advertises on tv for $19.99 mo. for new customers. So we are being charged almost 3 times more and UCO is aware of it. Today another tv ad for Breezeline Fiber Optic Internet at $40 mo. Very unfair and confusing.

    1. Diana, thanks for your question. With regard to internet charges I asked a breeze line spokesman (I think he was the head honcho) the same question: “Are we going to be charged an internet fee in addition to what we are now paying?” He stated that there is some kind of hotspot or system signal inside the box that would be able to reach out to their server without the need for actual internet. There will be no charge for internet. Of course those who do not have internet will continue to not have internet, but at least their box will work for the purposes of the streaming TV. I hope that answers your question. We’ll know more in a couple of weeks. I plan to stay on top of this and I’ll keep you posted.
